UNSPOKEN BLAME
[from the series: Voices Unheard]
2007©Judith A. Boggess
Cold stare of silence.
No words.
You amble away with
face of disdain.
It speaks volumes.
Calvary ~cross of
self-imposed martyrdom;
a pinstripe suit
you wear so well.
Dislikes her, but can’t leave.
Ensnared by assets.
Makes her the jailer
without keys.
How unfair.
Defeated by sadness.
Beaten by passivity.
Trampled by guilt,
for unknown insults,
she gasps for air.
How sad.
Cannot fight silence.
No sword can cut through.
Disagreements yield more sullenness.
Castigated without words;
with every turn of rigid shoulder,
every turn of rigid self further into self,
she feels him wishing her gone.
Is she wrong?
Silence cuts deep.
Life’s losses caused less ache.
Is there no end to unspoken blame?
Oh, hesitator.
Oh, procrastinator.
Speak up! She cries.
Oh, you who never sins.
